MiniBuilder 1.1.1-alpha GotoDefinition and Back

Development on MiniBuilder, the Flash/AIR IDE for ActionScript projects continues.

There were a few releases since my last post on this blog. If you want to keep a closer look, follow MiniBuilder on tweeter http://twitter.com/minibuilder

Latest important couple of features are Go To Definition and Back. Move the cursor inside any identifier defined in your project and press F4 to go to the place where your symbol is defined. It might be a class, a field, parameter or a local var of any enclosing closure. Then press Shift+F4 to return to the place you were before. I know, that’s very very useful ;)

Also, now you can customize the keyboard shortcuts, finally.

  1. I am fascinated by the descriptions of Minibuilder.

To give you an idea of my level of experience: I
have a website with physics articles, illustrated
    with animations: http://www.cleonis.nl
The prospects of Minibuilder look wonderful.

I’m curious: is the name ‘JetMBcompiler’ an
    abbreviation for ‘JetMinibuilderCompiler’?

It is my understanding that Jetty is a webserver,
using Apache technology. You describe JetMBCompiler
as a communication layer between Actionscript and
Adobe Flex SDK. How do those two functions relate
    to each other?

My questions are: does JetMBCompiler always run the
apache server? If so, do I need to avoid running
JetMBcompiler at the same time as another instance
    of Apache?

  2. My apologies, initially I misunderstood. Jetty is released under Apache licence, but does not include the apache webserver.

I surmise that Jetty facilitates the communication between Minibuilder and Flex SDK using TCP/IP protocol in the local 127.0.0.1 loopback, hence the requirement of port 8564.

  3. Hi there,
I was wondering about the web release of the minibuilder. I saw mentions to its release at the beginning of 2010. Any news on that?

  4. It looks like there’s going to be a delay. But the plan is still on ;)

  5. ok, good to hear.
    Keep the great work!

    regards,
